Goals of the CMS Quality Strategy
Eliminate disparities; strengthen infrastructure and data systems; enable local innovation; and foster learning organizations.
QIN-QIOs build on this platform to accomplish four major goals: promote effective prevention and treatment of chronic disease by promoting safe care that is person- and family-centered, reliable, and accessible; make care safer and reduce harm caused in the delivery of care; promote effective communication and coordination of care; and make care more affordable.
Collaborating with the QIO Program
Improving healthcare quality is a complex task that requires the involvement of many stakeholders. Nationally, we have aligned our efforts with major initiatives to improve patient safety and population health, like the National Nursing Home Quality Improvement Campaign, Million Hearts®, and Home Health Quality Improvement. We also work with leading organizations like AARP, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and many more.
